The second weekend in July we (the Walldorf Wanderers) went to Rome for the Championsbowl 2010. As German Champions we qualified in 2009 for this tournament. On Wednesday afternoon seven members of our team went already earlier to Rome for sightseeing purposes, as the tournament was going to start on friday afternoon. So we had a whole day on thursday walking and driving around in Rome and visiting the Vatican, the Colosseum and all the other sights. The weather was nice and we enjoyed our trip. Everything was fine.
But as the tournament started our luck vanished. Two injuries within the first game meant that our two best receivers and starting safeties were out for the rest of the tournament…. so we got a tie in the first games, and the rest of the tournament we fought, but couldn’t win a single game. On saturday evening we were devasteted. The worst case came true. So we went home on sunday and hope to play better as soon as possible.
